• Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC)

  The Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) provides a range a diagnostic tests for out-patients referred from either primary or secondary care. Diagnostics include x-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI.

• Day surgery

  If you're having day surgery you'll be discharged the same day. This means you can recover from surgery in the comfort of your own home.

• Dementia care

  Our dementia service cares for people with existing or suspected dementia with support networks and raise awareness of dementia and its impact.

• Dermatology

  Dermatology deals with skin. We provide specialist-led outpatient clinics, same day minor procedure treatments, and plastic surgeon-led complex surgery.   

• Diabetes and Endocrinology

  We provide specialist services, and personal care for people with diabetes and endocrine problems.

• Diabetic Eye Screening

  Diabetic eye screening is a test checking for eye problems caused by your diabetes. This can lead to sight loss if not found early.

• Discharge

  Our priority is to help you get better and support you to leave hospital when the time is right. You will only leave hospital when you no longer need hospital care and it is safe to do so.

• Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)

  Our team provides care for adults and children with a variety of ear, nose and throat problems.

• Elderly medicine

  We offer a specialised service which caters for the needs of older patients.

• Emergency ambulatory care

  The emergency ambulatory care unit provides same day assessment and treatment for patients who have been referred by either their GP, the emergency department, outpatients or following a hospital admission. Patients attending the emergency ambulatory care unit should be able to mobilise with minimal assistance.

• Endoscopy

  We offer a high-quality, friendly and efficient service to both wards and outpatients, delivered by specialist doctors and nurses who update their knowledge and skills to ensure we provide the best treatment and care possible.

• Eye care

  Our eye care services are offered at Southlands, St Richard's and Sussex Eye Hospital.

  Clinical radiology is the use of medical imaging to look inside the body to diagnose, treat and monitor disease and injuries.

• Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

  We offer care to Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal hospital patients with IBD covering medical, nursing and surgical treatments, nutritional support, research and education.

• Intensive care

  Intensive care units (ICUs) are specialist hospital wards that provide treatment and monitoring for people who are very ill.

• IV therapy

  IV therapy helps get medication and fluids into the body. It includes the use of cannulas, midlines, picc lines, port-a-caths and more.

• Medical Examiner

  Medical examiner offices in England are independent services, based at acute trusts (and a small number of specialist trusts). They are staffed by a team of medical examiners, supported by medical examiner officers.

• Medical physics

  Much of our service supports our hospitals, external clients in the NHS and private sector. We provide some services directly to patients, such as radioiodine therapies.

• Mortuary

  Our mortuary service offers a secure and dignified care of your loved one who has passed away in our hospitals or in the community.
