We provide day surgery care for patients who are admitted, receive treatment and are discharged on the same day. This may be surgery for a variety of different conditions.
A nurse will assess you before your surgery to decide if day surgery is appropriate for you.
We manage pre-assessment clinics for those having surgery at our day surgery units. The day care surgery teams also care for other patients waiting for planned surgery who are expecting to stay in hospital after their operation.
Your letter will let you know where to go for your surgery and what time to arrive as well as anything you need to bring with you or do to prepare for surgery.
Where we are
Day surgery services are run from our day surgery units in our hospitals: Royal Sussex County Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital, Worthing Hospital and St Richard’s Hospital. Day surgery is also performed at our community locations at Brighton General Hospital, Hove Polyclinic and Lewes Victoria Hospital.
