Eating healthily will be a big part of your recovery, and that starts in hospital.
When you are staying with us on the ward you can expect regular mealtimes, nutritious food and water by the side of your bed.
Allergies and dietary requirements are catered for, just talk to your nurse or the ward staff about these when you arrive on the ward.
A choice of meals is served three times a day on the ward. Menus are available either from your ward team or by the bedside and all meals are ordered in advance after checking your preference with you.
Our menus include hot and cold items and vegetarian and vegan choices.
As well as the meals, a range of snacks and hot drinks is available 24 hours a day and your water jug can be topped up with fresh water when you need it.
If there are any clinical reasons why you shouldn’t eat or drink, a nurse will explain this to you.
Mealtimes
Timings depend on the ward but roughly speaking you can expect meals at the following times:
- breakfast around 8am to 8.30am
- lunch around 12 noon to 1pm
- dinner around 5pm to 6pm
Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks are also available and with hot drinks.
Visitors at mealtimes
We welcome visitors at mealtimes who help by assisting you or having their meals with you. However, we ask that there is only one visitor per patient at these times.
