On Wednesday July 16th, several library staff visited the Sussex Clinical Academic Conference at the University of Brighton. There were interesting talks by researchers from around Sussex on their research journeys; the obstacles they faced and how they overcame them.
There was also information presented about new Research Centres in Sussex, including the Sussex Centre for Infection. Several local networks and research groups were also in attendance.
After lunch, there was a Presentation Competition where speakers delivered a short overview of their research. Topics ranged from brain tumours to chemsex, board games for teaching to pregnant women in the Emirates.
There was a poster competition as well, with our own Katie Barnard presenting a poster: ‘Tracking research publications by UH Sussex NHS Trust staff’. Overall, it was an enjoyable and interesting event and a good chance to network and promote our Knowledge and Library Service to researchers in Sussex.
