Biography
Having completed his primary degree at the University of Zimbabwe Medical School in 1997, Makhosini pursued post graduate training in surgery both in Africa and in the United Kingdom, starting 2001 after his internship. He obtained his Fellowship with the African college in 2005.
Makhosini has a wide range of experience in general surgery including head, chest and abdominal injury, thyroid, gall bladder, hernia and bowel surgery.
He moved to the UK in 2008, where he started the intercollegiate surgical training curriculum, obtaining MRCS and FRCS in 2011 and 2015 respectively.
He completed a year Fellowship in bariatric and metabolic surgery with the Western Sussex Hospitals Institute of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, accredited by the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) as a centre of excellence.
His expertise include elective and emergency laparoscopic surgery for gastrointestinal, biliary, obesity, and hernia disorders. He has a keen interest in colorectal neoplasia pathways, pilonidal disease and endoscopy services. He is a keen teacher of basic principles of surgery.
