Biography
Dr Katharine Hurt qualified from the Royal Free and University College London medical school in 2000. She completed her training in respiratory and general medicine in the South East region working at Kings college Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, Guys and St Thomas’ as well as hospitals on the south coast.
Katie spent three years at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS trust where she undertook in cystic fibrosis small airway testing.
Katie works as a consultant respiratory physician with clinical specialist interests in bronchiectasis, respiratory infection (including TB and non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease) and airway diseases. She is also interested in assessment of breathlessness.
Katie is committed to education and training. She is the Respiratory medicine training program director for Kent, Surrey and Sussex. She is the Royal College of physicians regional specialist advisor for respiratory medicine. At an undergraduate level, Katie is the director of student support for Brighton and Sussex medical school.
